What to Expect
Loughcrew Estate will provide the setting for Shiva’s retreat in Ireland and was chosen for its close proximity to the ancient megalithic Loughcrew Cairns - known as Sliabh na Cailleach - as well as having its own unique mystical history. The cairns at Loughcrew form the largest complex of passage graves in Ireland, much older than the better known Newgrange, plus they are rich with mythology and Celtic ritual. Shiva and Demetri will be guiding us through a series of Prana Flow and Prana Danda inspired yoga practices to help us harness the energy of this unique location.
The retreat flow will go something like.….
Each day will include a morning (730-10am) and evening practice (4-630pm) with Shiva and Demetri, taking place before breakfast and supper in a beautiful room off the Loughcrew Estate courtyard. Weather permitting Shiva will also be leading sunset meditations at the ancient stone circle and passage tombs of Sliabh na Cailleach at the Loughcrew Cairns. To find out more about the Prana Flow Art of Namaskar and Prana Danda practice offerings click here. Teacher Training Immersion labs will take place before the evening group practice from 230-4pm. Your time is your own between brunch and teacher training labs/late afternoon practice.
Breakfast/brunch (at 10am) and an evening meals (645pm) are included in all packages whether you are staying on-site or off-site. Lunch is not included (and probably not required as brunch is substantial), but there are well-equipped kitchens in the main house and Courtyard apartments for lunchtime self-catering and the Estate has a cafe. Oldcastle is a 10 minute drive for other eating out options for lunch. All meals prepared on-site will be vegetarian with vegan options.
The whole retreat will take place at Loughcrew Estate including (weather permitting) several visits to the Sliabh na Cailleach/Loughcrew Cairns.
The closest airport is Dublin Airport, approximately a one hour drive from the estate.
Oldcastle is the nearest town to Loughcrew.
